Admissions project recognised
Congratulations to Sarah Hawkins on being recognised for her work on the University’s Admissions, Scholarships and Accommodation (ASA) project.
Sarah, who is Deputy Registrar Student Admissions and Scholarships, was Highly Commended for the L. H. Martin Institute Award for Leadership in delivering this important project.
ASA has played a part in reforming the way ANU admits students to study at the University.
“Receiving the award was such an honour,” says Sarah.
“I was involved with the project from ideation stages all the way through to the first offers going out to students. Being able to deliver a ‘platinum model’ was always the goal and to be recognised by peers in the industry for that is something I’m very proud of.”
To make this extensive project a success, Sarah says stakeholder engagement – both internally and externally – was critical, with it requiring, at various times, university-wide consultation.
“We really needed to both get people on board with the concept but also listen to and incorporate their feedback,” she says.
“The project itself is of great interest to the higher education industry because of its commitment to transparency while using technology to incorporate the disparate elements and new assessment criteria.”
Being recognised for this award is also an acknowledgement from the industry of the work ANU is doing in this space, she says.
“Delivering such an inspirational, University wide project is a testament to the entire University community and their commitment and pride in delivering a transformational student experience.”
